The building-authority approval of wood screws has a long tradition in Germany. In the course of europeanisation of product requirements by the CDD/CPR, also these national approvals were transferred into European Technical Approvals/Assessments (ETAs).
The current basis for ETAs for wood screws is the European Technical Assessment Document EADÂ 130118-00-0603 “Screws and threaded rods for use in timber constructions“.
Compared with EN 14592, this EAD can be regularly updated with product innovation, new fields of application and latest research results.
The ETAs, issued by neutral and EU wide accepted Technical Assessment Bodies (TABs) contain all relevent data and frams conditions for the design and use of wood screws.
